Kids are super gross. They like to pick their noses, lick things that shouldn’t be licked, and put their fingers in their mouths all the time. They have no idea that these are the things that can make them sick because germs live on everything, so explaining germs for kids is hard. How to do you take something so complicated and make it easy for kids to understand?
Easy. With a really cool book.
Why a Book?
As hard as we try to be knowledgeable about the questions our kids have, it’s hard to be a content expert on everything from how do animals talk to why do I need to sleep.
An interactive book can handle all of the child’s questions AND help you learn more too!
Teaching Germs for Kids
Every single time I ask my daughter to wash her hands or cover her mouth when she coughs, she asks me why. I usually respond with ‘because I said so’. I’m sure you can imagine how that’s gone.
I was missing a critical step in teaching germs for kids. The WHY. My daughter needed to be reminded a million times to wash her hands and cover her mouth because I had not done a good enough job explaining why she needed to do those things.
Germs are an incredibly abstract and complicated topic for kids to understand. When paired with an interactive book, everything about germs becomes easily digested. Once we started reading What Are Germs, my daughter is now conscious of germs, where to find them, and how to prevent their spread.
The coolest part of this book is it’s subtle use of repetition and how it introduces new content. Throughout the book, key concepts (like hand washing) are emphasized in a way that also helps explain why.
Germs for Kids: The Book
You need to add What Are Germs to your library TODAY. Last year, the flu did not hit our house. I largely credit this book for helping us keep the nasty germs away.
What you’ll learn…
What are germs? Where do they live and how do they spread? It’s time to zoom in for a closer look… This informational book for children has amusing and friendly illustrations, and children will love peeking under the flaps to find out all about germs and hygiene.
Don’t wait! Grab the book today!
