Do you have credible medical apps you can turn to when your kids need help fast? Sharing the top 5 best medical apps for parents.

Parent Advice Center

Parent Advice Center app is created by healthcare professionals at Texas Children’s Pediatrics. The content is generated from the clinical protocols used by pediatricians in 10,000 practices and 400 nurse advice lines in the US and Canada. In other words, the app gives very credible medical advice when you need it the most.

Cool Features

  1. Symptom Checker: Gives you several different ways to look up what’s going on with your child. The body area option is unique.
  2. Decision Chart: Tells you exactly what symptoms require an ER visit or can wait to see the pediatrician.

I like the way this app has the information organized. It makes the information easy to read and understand in an emergency situation.

The body area symptom checker is incredible! I love that I can click various body parts and enter my child’s symptoms and the app gives me a reasonable suggestion for what could be going on. Unlike WebMD (or others) which almost always tell you that your child has cancer as a possibility. One of the reasons this app makes my list of best medical apps for parents!

The dosing charts are amazing! There are charts for the most common OTC medications.

Child Health Tracker

Child Health Tracker app is by Healthy Children, which is a branch of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP). This app is handy because it gives you AAP guidance without having to do a bunch of searching.

Cool Features:

  1. Child Profile: You can store your child’s medical information, healthcare providers, and even a medication tracker. There is also a place to make notes of things you’d like to discuss with your pediatrician- which is an excellent feature if you’re like me and write stuff down and forget where you wrote it.
  2. AAP guidance on things like developmental milestones and vaccinations

App Cost: $2.99
